Unirac Launches New Utility/Commercial Ground Mount Solution

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO, July 13, 2009 – Unirac Inc., North America’s leading manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) mounting solutions, today announced the launch of the ISYS Ground Mount, the first modular mounting solution utilizing innovative installation techniques and offering better value for the large scale utility and commercial PV market. Unirac is showcasing the ISYS Ground Mount at Intersolar North America, in San Francisco, CA, from July 14 to 16, 2009.

Designed to deliver the most cost effective mounting system, ISYS has a total installed cost as low as $0.35 per watt with an industry leading installation rate of more than 10 modules per man-hour. ISYS is designed with innovative steel I beam components that have an outstanding strength to weight ratio.

“Large ground mount projects cannot reach the goal of grid parity with any existing installation methods or material available today; a different way of thinking is required.” said Douglas May, Unirac CEO. “The ISYS Ground Mount provides the most cost-effective utility and large commercial solution by lowering the total installed cost of projects, from foundation to module mounting hardware.”

ISYS components require zero field fabrication – no welding, drilling, or cutting at the installation site, making ISYS one of the fastest systems to install with consistent and repeatable installation steps. In addition, ISYS’ unique, smart design allows for pre-fabrication of sub-assemblies prior to delivery to project sites.

Engineered to accommodate every foundation option (driven pile, pre-cast concrete ballast, screw type earth auger, traditional excavation and concrete pier), ISYS adapts to the project site and enables customers to select the most cost-effective foundation system for their project site.

The I-beam components are manufactured by cold rolling, one of the most efficient manufacturing processes, which is significantly more affordable than aluminum ground mount systems. Mounting hardware is galvanized, which is also less expensive than stainless steel. All structural materials for the array come from a single source, specifically packed and designed to work with each customer’s module and site conditions.

Accompanied by a personalized Custom Solutions Division, a team devoted to supplying a complete suite of services, Unirac provides structural design services, on-site installer training, delivery logistics and field support to ensure accurate installation.

For the complete lineup of Unirac PV mounting solutions and services, visit the Unirac booth #9647 at Intersolar North America, in San Francisco, CA, from July 14 to 16, 2009.
