Peter Lorenz

Chief Executive Officer

Peter Lorenz is Chief Executive Officer of Unirac Inc. As CEO, Lorenz oversees all aspects of Unirac’s operations including sales, marketing, engineering, supply chain and finance.

Lorenz brings over ten years of experience in energy and solar power and twenty years of diversified experience in business building, sales and marketing, operational performance improvements and M&A.

Prior to assuming his current role, Lorenz was with Quanta Services, a leading specialty contractor in North America, where as president of Renewable Energy Services he developed the company’s solar strategy allowing Quanta to become the leading solar EPC company during his tenure. Prior to joining Quanta Services, Lorenz worked for the global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company in Houston where his work focused energy firm growth, performance transformations and renewable energy. He was also instrumental in building McKinsey’s global solar competence. Lorenz began his career in finance for Royal Dutch Shell in London.

Lorenz has published and co-authored several articles on electric power and solar energy and been a featured speaker on several industry conferences.

Lorenz has a BA in European Business Administration from Middlesex University and FH Reutlingen and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.


Richard Welch

Chief Operations Officer

Richard Welch is the Chief Operations Officer of Unirac Inc. As COO, Richard oversees Unirac's manufacturing and supply chain efforts for all residential through utility-scale products and projects.

An accomplished presenter on solar industry topics, Richard currently also serves as Unirac's ISO Management Representative and leads Unirac’s certification processes.

Immediately prior to joining Unirac in 2006, Welch led manufacturing and quality management operations as Vice President at Advanced Energy Industries, a preeminent utility-scale PV solar inverter design and manufacturing company.

A three-time award-winning expert in Lean Manufacturing, Welch has his master's degree in management in organizational development from Lesley College in Cambridge, Mass., and a bachelor's in management engineering (mechanical) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass.


Toni Haenninen

Chief Financial Officer

Toni Haenninen is the Chief Financial Officer of Unirac Inc. As CFO, Toni Haenninen is responsible for the Unirac’s financial coordination with its parent company, Hilti Group.

Currently, Toni assists and advises Unirac with strategic financial objectives and risk management, strategic planning as well as coordinating and optimizing work streams.

Before joining Unirac, Toni spent many years in financial management positions within the Hilti Group; from Director of Finance at Hilti North American headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Business Development Controller at Hilti global headquarters in Liechtenstein. He was heavily involved with other Hilti group acquisitions.

Toni studied business administration and information technology management at the Vienna University of Economics in Austria, and the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He holds an M.B.A. from the Helsinki School of Economics in Finland.



Tony Borck

Vice President of Utility Group

Tony Borck was recently promoted to Vice President of Unirac’s Utility Group. He has been with the company since September of 2009.

At Unirac, Tony Borck collaborates with EPC contractors and integrators. His team primarily focuses on Unirac’s suite of utility products, and enhances the company’s ability to serve large sophisticated partners across the U.S. and internationally.

Prior to joining Unirac, Tony was Vice President of the Global Environment Fund (GEF), where he covered the solar industry, and worked with multiple solar companies making investments throughout the renewable energy industry.

Tony holds an M.B.A. from George Washington University in Washington D.C., with a concentration in international business development and strategy. He achieved a Bachelor of Science from Elon University in North Carolina, where he double-majored in business administration and information systems.


Juan Suarez

Vice President of Engineering

Juan Suarez was recently promoted to the position of Unirac Vice President of Engineering.

Juan currently manages and leads all engineering activities at Unirac, including customer facing engineering services and product development. He is responsible for managing the creation and defense of Unirac's intellectual property.

An accomplished speaker and author on solar industry topics such as Codes and Standards, Suarez tripled Unirac’s patent portfolio in less than two years, and led the engineering and product development process to achieve several ISO certifications.

Prior to Unirac, Juan owned his own construction and development company specializing in green building.

Juan holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from New Mexico State University.


Darren Womacks

Vice President Residential and Commercial Group

In February of 2013, Darren Womacks was promoted to Vice President Residential and Commercial Group for Unirac.

The Residential and Commercial Group, formerly identified as Channel Team, serves all Unirac customers who typically install projects under 5MW. This market includes Distributors, OEM’s, Residential and Commercial EPC’s, and commercial contractors.

Darren has held three other positions at Unirac since 2008. Prior to becoming the Senior Director of Channel Sales, Darren led manufacturing and operations as the Senior Director of Operations and as the Director of Manufacturing. Prior to joining Unirac, he was in manufacturing management for General Mills. Darren also served as a Navy Nuclear Submarine engineer for 7 years.

Darren is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He also holds an M.B.A. from the University of New Mexico.


Marcelo Gomez

Director of Marketing

Marcelo Gomez has been with Unirac seven years, and serves as Unirac’s Director of Marketing. Marcelo is responsible for driving Unirac’s overall brand and communication strategies.

Marcelo spent three years as a freelance graphic designer and marketing consultant before taking his experience to help grow one of the nation’s most recognized sponsorship organizations, Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, as a marketing specialist and creative designer. The former owner of a graphic design agency in Belize, Marcelo holds a degree in mass communications from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.

Marcelo continues to develop Unirac’s corporate brand identity and PR communication strategies, as well as maintain Unirac’s global presence through its website, tradeshows and events.

Before joining the Unirac team, Marcelo was Marketing Specialist and Creative Designer for the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. Prior to that position, he spent three years as a freelance graphic designer and marketing consultant. As a former owner of a graphic design agency in Belize, Gomez brings to Unirac a decade of marketing experience in building brand identities, websites and award-winning logo designs.

Marcelo holds a Bachelor of Science in mass communications from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.


Dawn Hill

Director of Human Resources

Dawn Hill joined Unirac as the Director of Human Resources in February 2012.

Dawn leads the human resources function at Unirac, where she partners with the other members of the Executive Team to implement HR structures, policies and processes that support Unirac’s growth and evolution within the industry.

Hill has worked in the consumer products, mining, printing, and EPC industries, with a proven track record in HR start-ups, turn-arounds, and culture change.

Dawn holds an M.B.A. in human resources management from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, a Certificate in Organization Development from DePaul University (Chicago), and an SPHR certification (Senior Professional in Human Resources) from the Human Resources Certification Institute.
